Detroit Teachers Have Reached…

a tentative deal to end the strike.  The school district wanted around 88 million in cuts, but the agreement is for around 64 million in cuts.  The deal includes a pay cut of 5% of the teachers.

in the state of Texas is going to discuss plans this week to change math and science requirements for college bound high school students.  They want add a fourth year of math and science.

With the changes in requirements they hope lower the amount of students taking remidal classes in colleges.

I wonder how many people are going to take the easy way out and then go into college like a year later???  Will the state have someway to stop this from going on.

It is a program that has introduced into the elementary school system.

The program combines traditional pencil and paper problem-solving methods and hands-on activities.

When tested as a pilot program MSA scores did go up.

Students at the elementary grade levels will be learning a second langauage.
