The Denver Public Schools Are….

going to ease into a new grading system where students will receive 1’s, 2’s , and 3’s instead of A’s, B’s, and C’s for the k-5 grades.

In the article they use a simple example where one student under the old system gets a D grade average for scores of 0,90,90,90 for four exams.  Under the new grading system the student would receive a 3 or a 4 score which is high grade for meeting expectations.

I am going to say NO,NO,NO to this.

students in this class are around five years old, but are not fully ready for the regular kindergarten pace.  Their is only a bit of writing in this class by the end of the school year.

The Washington Post reports that some students are finding that their is not enough seats in the testing center and last minute cancellations on exams.
