school year so far have not passed the state exit exam.  The state expects a slight increase in the percentage of students that will pass the exam at the end of the year.

The Washington D.C. School District….

has hired 470 teachers to fill vacancies, but they all need to take up to four classes in their subject areas in order for them to meet rules in the NCLB bill. All of these teachers were threatened with early dismissal.

in the state of Colorado may not get implemented at all.  It was supposed to go in effect in 2010, but Members of the Colorado Education Alignment Council say that resources should go to math instruction instead.
