rural areas and the limited options that they have to fix failing schools.
The article brings up a great point: What do you do when you are in a rural area with no school districts close by, only one or two schools in the school district and they all meet NCLB rules for transferring of students to another school????

amount of schools that did not meet NCLB rules occurred in the state of Michigan.
297 failed in 2004, 436 in 2005 and now 544 in 2006.

in the state of Connecticut can transfer to another school because they are not meeting NCLB rules. Anh extra 169 schools did not meet some of the NCLB rules as well.

has hired 470 teachers to fill vacancies, but they all need to take up to four classes in their subject areas in order for them to meet rules in the NCLB bill. All of these teachers were threatened with early dismissal.

says that more schools in the state of New Jersey are failing to meet NCLB rules. Nine schools in the state meet the toughest penalties.

Phi Delta Kappa poll on the American educational system is out.
The poll shows that more people are learning more and more on the NCLB bill. 37% of the people polled says that the NCLB bill has made no difference in the school system at all.
