This program was created to help dropouts finish high school. Students are up early in the morining and have to do physical education each day while in the program.

in the Northview Middle School are taking gym class every other day for 82 minutes at a time. Half of the session is spent on a wellness class, and the other half is activity time.

The Crete-Monee School District 201-U elementary grade levels are using this instead of regular PE.

The students in the schools used to get three days a week of PE, now they only get one with the PEP program.

I am going to say NO to this. I want regular gym back in the students life, but it has to be a movement filled one.

are now installing fitness centers. Naperville School District 203 has put them into 5 middle schools and 2 high schools. The school district says that only 3% of high school students are overwight while nation-wide 35% are.

If a school has the room for this stuff, I say go for it. I still also like DDR in the gym room as well.

This article by the USAToday people looks at how this school has such a low dropout rate. The school has a small population, no gym, no football team, no band, and wear uniforms. Over 90% of its students are in low-income families.
They also have up three video reports on this schools as well.
