They say a majority of young students enter into a community college with a goal of transferring to another college to get a bachelor&#8217;s degree, but after one semester the dream is destroyed for most students.<\/p>\n<p>25% did not return to college, around 33% returned for the spring semester with lower aspirations, and around 41% came back with the aspirations in tack.<\/p>\n<p>One trend they found is for all races is that if a student in the first semester took more than three transferable college level classes they were more likely to transfer to a four year college.<\/p>\n<p>Another trend for all races they found is that students were more likely to transfer to another college if they had to take 0 basic skills classes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>California community college students.
