The College Board Has Released….

its 2006 Trends in College Pricing report.  The report states that tuition again is rising above inflation, but growing at a slow rate.

They have also released a 2006 Trends In College Aid report.  This report states that graduate students are borrowing more than undergraduate students.  Federal loans now total 51% of total student aid.  They list the average debt level for a bachelor degree recipient is 19,300.

Also released is an 2006 Education Pays update. This reports shows a widening gap in salary between high school and college grads.

Reading Fluency Article…..

The Washington Post reports on this education topic. They show a chart on how fast a student should be reading for a certain grade level.

They also have a second article up saying that assigned reading from some books may be a bit too soon for them to understand.

The Federal Government Is….

going to ease rules on same sex classes. The new rules going in plave on November 24th will allow local school districts the right to have single sex classes for a grade level or all the grade levels the school has.  Seperate classes for each sex must be offered along with a coed version of the class.

will be recieveing 800,000 bucks in grant money that they are going to spend to be one of only four school districts in the USA to offer Russian immersion classes.
